Alan Kentworth Davidson passed away on December 26, 2025, after a long stay at the VA Medical Center in Asheville, North Carolina.
Alan was born on August 2, 1957, in Greensboro, North Carolina, to Joe Davidson and Jesse Mae Forney. During his childhood, he and his mother, grandmother, and 8 siblings relocated to Morganton, North Carolina, where much of his early life was shaped.
From a young age, Alan carried a strong desire to get away and see the world. Soon after graduating from Freedom High School, he joined the United States Army. During his four years of enlistment, he was stationed in Darmstadt, Germany. It was there that he met and married, Monika Bohm. Monika had an infant son, Brian, whom Alan quickly grew to love as his own. Monika shared Alan’s desire to experience the world, and in 1978, the three of them relocated to Tacoma, Washington, United States. While Alan was stationed at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington, early in 1979, they welcomed a daughter, Olympia “Jasmin” Davidson, completing their young family. After his enlistment time was over, Alan was honorably discharged from the Army in November of 1979, at which time the family relocated back to Morganton, North Carolina.
In 1984, the family took a mission trip with The Way International and joined The World Over the World Mission where they were sent to Jefferson City, Missouri, for a one-year mission dedicated to spreading the Word of God. This is where Alan’s faith and love for the Lord really flourished. During his time in Jefferson City, Alan became a state classified cook and through dedication and hard work, Alan advanced through the state food service classifications, ultimately attaining the position of Cook III. This carried out in his personal life as he was always wanting to throw down some meat on the grill! After his time working for the state, Alan became quite the entrepreneur. He had various businesses ranging from Landscaping to serving Ice cream out of his small fleet of ice cream trucks. Alan was always known for his work ethic. He was always going and going! Even after his injury that would ultimately put him in his wheelchair, Alan was still working hard with his businesses and serving his community.
Military Pride & Faith
Alan was a proud soldier who consistently showed appreciation for service, his country, and his community. A protector by nature, he was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back—even if it were his last. Though anyone who knew Alan knows he had many shirts, proudly displayed over the years on his social media pages. In those photos, it was common to see him wearing his United States Army sweaters and hats, a quiet but constant expression of his pride and identity as a veteran.
One of Alan’s greatest joys later in life was sharing the Word of God with his fellow veterans. During his time at the VA Medical Center, he regularly participated in Bible study sessions, where he found purpose, fellowship, and connection. Alan was never afraid to share his faith—especially with those who had served—believing deeply in encouragement, redemption, and the power of community among veterans.
