Asa Larry McGuire, 74, of Granite Falls, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at Amorem of Caldwell County following a period of declining health.

Asa was born April 22, 1952 in Avery County, to the late Acie Plato McGuire and Kathleen Lawrence McGuire. He was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church, retired from the phone company as a lineman, enjoyed playing music, and being outside fishing, hiking, or backpacking.

He is survived by his children, Asa Christopher McGuire and wife Christina; daughter, Katie Wilson; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, George McGuire, Steve McGuire and wife Regina, and Tim McGuire and wife Donna; and sisters, Ann Seagle and husband Dennis, Judy Marshall, Cathy Norman, and Marsha Kuykendall.

A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
