Avie "Susie" Elkins Pendergrass

Mrs. Avie “Susie” Elkins Pendergrass, 91, of Morganton, passed away on Thursday July 3, 2025, at Autum Care, Drexel, after a period of declining health.

Mrs. Pendergrass was born August 14, 1933, in Yancey County, a daughter of the late Creed and Amanda Hutchins Elkins. She was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church and retired as a seamstress from Drexel Heritage Furniture Co. after many years of dedicated service.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Roy Pendergrass of the home, a son Lee Hoilman (Sandy) of Valdese, two daughters, Lois Pritchard of Hudson, Judy McGuire of Valdese, two sisters, Lila Maloney of Connelly Springs and Goldie Allen of Hendersonville. Also surviving are her grandchildren Amanda Jones (Lee), Mitchell McGuire (Breanna), Cassie Hansen (Mark), Andrew McGuire (Kelsey) Dylan Pritchard (Kali) Kevin Hoilman and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Avie Pendergrass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday July 9, 2025, in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Rev. Dwayne Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 Until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Service.
