Barbara Ann Whisnant

Barbara Ann Whisnant, 83, of Valdese, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Magnolia Lane Nursing and Rehab Center following a period of declining health.

Barbara was born November 16, 1941 in Burke County, a daughter of the late Paul and Isabelle Bivens Whisnant. She worked as a teacher’s assistant for nearly thirty years and was very dedicated to the children, who she treated as if they were her own. She loved being in the classroom almost as much as she loved cars, especially hotrods and Mustangs.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by a fiancé, Zane Justice.

Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Harold Whisnant; caregiver, Robert Lane; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 2 PM at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Stephen Collins officiating.

Heritage Funeral Service & Crematory is assisting the family.
