Betty Lou Collins Stamey, 89, of Valdese, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2026 at Frye Regional Medical following a period of declining health.

Betty was born February 24, 1937 in Catawba County to the late Horace Collins and Addie Lovelace Collins. She was a member of St. Johns Baptist Church and worked as a seamstress. Betty loved sewing and traveling.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Guy Edward Stamey; daughter, Donna Renee Stamey Southerland; sisters, Mary Rector and Christine Watson; and brothers, Franklin Collins, Robert Collins, Neil Collins, and Harvey Collins.

She is survived by her son, Brian Keith Stamey; grandchildren, Joshua Brian Stamey, Julie Southerland, Timmy Southerland, and Chris Southerland; and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 2, 2026 at 2:00 PM at St. Johns Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Tony Dyson officiating.

Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory in Valdese is assisting the family.
