Bland Calvin Fulbright

Mr. Bland Calvin Fulbright, 85, of Hildebran, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Trinity Ridge Nursing Center, following a period of declining health.

Bland was born on January 3, 1940, in Burke County to the late Max Gordon Fulbright and Viola Church Fulbright. He was a member of Mount Hebron Baptist Church and was a retired shipping clerk for West Penn Wire. Bland was always an outdoorsman, who enjoyed trout fishing, deer hunting, rabbit hunting, ginseng hunting and gardening, and was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was always a man of his word, and if he told you he was going to do something, you could bank on it. Bland was a devoted husband and was with his beloved wife for 58 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Seaborn.

Surviving is his beloved wife, Irene Burleson Fulbright of the home, one son, Max Fulbright of Icard, two brothers, Rev. Ellis Fulbright and wife Ruby of Hickory, Douglas Fulbright and wife Shirley of Casar, and a brother in-law, Johnny Seabron of Carrollton, GA.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 6:30 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Rev. Eric James and Alvin Murphy officiating. Interment will follow on Saturday, August 31, 2025, at Cane Creek Cemetery in Bakersville, with Kevin Houston, Alvin Murphy, Benjie Burleson, Clyde “Son” Lail, Russell Burleson, Don Fredell, Christopher Burleson, Carroll Mooneyham, Ellis Fulbright Sr., and Michael Seaborn serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 until 6:30 PM at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
