Bobby Basil Stamey, 84, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Carolina Caring following a period of declining health.

Bobby was born December 25, 1941 in Burke County, a son of the late Vernie Stamey. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a loving man who was thought well of by all who knew him. His great love was his family. His grandchildren and greatgrandchildren knew him as their “Poppy,” and they were the apples of his eye.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in passing by his grandparents, Charlie and Helen Stamey, and a sister, Doris Herman.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of nearly fifty years, Sara Gilbert Stamey; daughter, Kelli Scronce; grandchildren, Alex Scronce (Ashley) and Andrew Scronce (Abbie); great-grandchildren, Zayne, Allyana, Salem, and Merilei Alice; a special great-niece, Jordyn Gilbert (Joey Makra) and Hudson ; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held at a later date per his wishes.
