Bobby Stilwell, 94, of Hickory, departed this life to his heavenly home on Wednesday December 3, 2025 at College Pines Nursing Center following a period of declining health.
Bobby was born on March 7, 1931 in Burke County to the late Jason Stilwell and Vivian Stilwell. A veteran of the United States Navy, he bravely served his country for four years on the USS Chauncey. His commitment to service extended beyond his military career; he was a long-standing and active member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Hickory, where he demonstrated his love for the Lord. Bobby also had a successful career in sales at Snyder Paper Corporation, where he continued to work until age 84. Beyond his professional and spiritual life, Bobby was a passionate golfer and cherished every moment spent with his beloved wife of 68 years, Clara, who passed away in 2018.
Surviving is his son, Danny Wayne Stilwell and wife Kathy Young Stilwell of Swannanoa, NC.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday December 9, 2025 in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese, with Rev. Cory Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife Clara. Military honors will be presented by the United States Navy.
Pallbearers who will be serving are Dean Young, Jordan Young, Jacob Young, Eddie Marlowe, Tommy Smith and Harold Greenhill.
