Martha Caroleen Cooke Rhoney, 77, of Vale, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Thursday March 5, 2026, after a period of declining health.
Mrs. Rhoney was born June 5, 1948, in Burke County, a daughter of the late Calvin “Dopey” and Ruby Hoyle Cooke. She was an active member Mull’s Chapel Baptist Church and was a compassionate, loving and considerate person. Caroleen was a hard working farmer, with a strong will, spicy humor and a huge heart. She loved all things, especially her animals.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Bill Rhoney and a brother, Danny Cooke.
Those left to cherish her memory is a sister, Teena Smith (Michael) of Morganton, two daughters, Debbie Rhoney Abernethy (Michael) of Hildebran, Teresa Rhoney Edblom (Gary) of Vale ,grandchildren, Tasha Burch (Brett), Charlie Lowman (Ashley), Paige Turner (Josh), great-grandchildren, Brandy, Sinthya, Devin, Kayden, Landon, Kaitlin, Logan, Lydia, Colby, Bryson, Anna, Colton, Remington, Felix, Zeke, Sophia and a number of nieces and nephews, who she loved as well.
Funeral Services for Martha Caroleen Cooke Rhoney will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday March 9, 2026, at Mull’s Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. David Workman (Cornbread) officiating. Interment will follow in the Mull’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:00 P.M. Monday at Mull’s Chapel Baptist Church.
