Carrie Lee White Powell, 90, of Morganton, went to her Heavenly Home, unexpectedly on Sunday July 5, 2026.

Mrs. Powell was born April 3, 1936, in Cleveland County, N.C., a daughter of the late Marvin and Ethel Luckadoo White. She retired after 43 years of dedicated service as a seamstress from Shadowline, Inc. Carrie was a faithful member of East Valdese Baptist Church and dearly loved her Sunday School Class. She enjoyed visiting friends in the nursing home or those close friends that needed a visit in their homes, especially her dear best friend, Blanche Poole.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Powell, son Mike Powell, brothers, Joe, Hazel, Worth, Ralph, Buren, Doc and Harrill and sisters Mozelle Halton and Geynell Cook.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tammy Cannon (Mark) and sons, Doug Powell and Ernie Powell (Kathy). Also surviving are the apples of her eye, her twelve grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Carrie Powell will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday July 9, 2026, at East Valdese Baptist Church with Rev. Gregg Clapp and Pastor Chip Stallings officiating. Interment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Thursday July 9, 2026, from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at East Valdese Baptist Church.
