Charles Wayne McGee, 79, of Valdese, passed away on Monday September 7, 2026, at UNC Blueridge, after a period of declining health.

Charles was born September 20, 1946, in Burke County, a son of the late Robert and Katherine Brittain McGee. He retired as the owner and operator of McGee Auto Sales in Morganton. Charles served his country as a proud US Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War and was a faithful member of Abee’s Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Perrou McGee, a brother, Robert McGee, two sisters, Ella Mae Benton and Margaret Fontaine and a stepson, John Lowman.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Qutina Benfield, a niece, Debbie Aldridge, stepchildren, Cindy Stieby and husband Jay, David Lowman and wife Kathy and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday September 12, 2026, in the Waldensian Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Rudy Hayes officiating. Military honors will be presented by the United States Marines.
