Christina Elaine Helms

Mrs. Christina Elaine Stilwell Helms, 60, of Valdese, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at her residence, following a period of declining health.

Christina was born on September 1, 1965, in Burke County to the late Ralph Stilwell and Gladys Carpenter Stilwell. She was employed as a registered nurse for many years at many local nursing homes throughout the surrounding counties.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Helms.

Surviving are her three sons, Aaron Helms and wife Mikayla of Myrtle Beach, SC, Adam Helms and wife Sarah of Morganton, and Cole Helms of Valdese. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Gracie, Albert, Anthony, Rachel and James, and one brother, Darren Stilwell.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with Rev. Kenny Baker officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.
