Darlene Dula Lail Bivens Brittain, 75, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at her residence; following a period of declining health.

Darlene was born September 11, 1950 in Burke County to the late Ruben Clyde Dula and Melba Jenkins Dula. She was warm and generous, always ready to help others when she could. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she especially cherished her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her two infant children, Sharon Revonda Lail and Cristopher Edward Lail; and grandson, Marcus Brigman Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Guy Brittain; daughter, Melissa Nicole Bivens Gantt and husband Chad; three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 4:00 PM at Smarts Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Pat Mourglea officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Or to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
