Mr. Dean Russell McCarter, 67, of Valdese, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at UNC-BR Morganton, following a period of declining health.

A native of Madison County, NC, Dean was born on June 16, 1969, in Buncombe County to the late Carl McCarter and Jerda King McCarter. He worked throughout his career in various positions in the textile industry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Kay.

Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Kimbralee Craig McCarter of the home, and four children; Tresa McCarter of Valdese, Merry McCarter Cook and husband Timmy of Shallotte, NC, Carl Russell McCarter and wife Tamara of Valdese, and Matthew McCarter and wife Stephanie of Valdese. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren; Jeremy, Kembralee, Jessie, Aiydan, Karma, Destany, Hannah, Alexis, Tara, Kara, Dylan, Samantha, Landon, Laurie and Autumn, four great-grandchildren, Arthur, Nolan, Meeka and James William, three sisters, JoAnn, Billie June, and Judy and one brother, J.C.

Mr. McCarter expressed that no services be conducted after his passing, and currently none are scheduled.
