Deborah Hall

Mrs. Deborah Charlene Costner Hall, 72, of Lenoir, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Atrium Health Cabarrus following a brief illness.

Deborah was born on August 2, 1954, in Greenville, South Carolina, to Lois Costner and the late Charles Hugh Costner. She was a member of Day 3 Church in Granite Falls and a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University, where she earned her degree in elementary education. Deborah devoted more than 30 years to teaching in both Burke and Caldwell County Public Schools. She also faithfully taught Sunday School and was the founder of the Busy Bee Preschool program, a ministry that has continued to serve countless children and families through the years.

Her faith was the central focus of her life and the foundation of the love she gave so freely to her family. Deborah loved her husband deeply and treasured the life they built together over 52 years. Her family was her greatest earthly joy, and she expressed that love through her presence, encouragement, generosity, and the care she gave so naturally to those around her.

Deborah was happiest when her family was together. She loved sitting in the stands cheering on her grandchildren, gathering everyone around the table for family dinners, listening to music, and simply spending time at home with those she loved most. Her faith guided the way she lived and loved, and she leaves behind a lasting example of devotion to God, commitment to her husband, and unconditional love for her family. Her legacy will continue in the lives of those who were blessed to know and love her.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 52 years, David Richard Hall of the home; her daughters, Dara Hall Childers and husband Travis of Connelly Springs, and Dona Hall Rudicil of Rutherford College; her grandchildren, Carson and Aubrey Childers of Connelly Springs, and Karis and Tobias Rudicil of Rutherford College; her mother, Lois Costner; and her brother, David Costner of Lenoir.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at Union Grove Baptist Church in Lenoir, with Rev. Lynn Parson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. at Union Grove Baptist Church.
