Deborah Ann Trueheart Meiners, of Valdese, North Carolina, passed away surrounded by the love of her family, on November 3, 2026, at the age of 67, following a courageous year-and-a-half-long battle with cancer.

Deborah was born on December 2, 1958, in Far Rockaway, Queens, New York, to Dolores and Michael Trueheart. She grew up in Island Park, New York, and graduated from West Hempstead High School. Throughout her career, Deborah worked in hospitality, but her most cherished and rewarding role was being a wife, mother, and homemaker. Her family was her greatest joy, and loving them was what she did best.

Deborah met the love of her life, Sean Meiners Sr., in 1984, and the two were married on September 30, 1989, at Waldensian Presbyterian Church in Valdese. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three children: Kelly, Sean, and Kerri. In time, her family grew to include eight grandchildren, who were the absolute light of her life. She loved each of them deeply and treasured every moment spent making memories with them.

Deborah had a deep love for the Lord she was always eager to lend a helping hand, whether volunteering with Vacation Bible School, serving in the nursery, or participating on the church's social committee. Her faith was an important part of who she was.

If you knew Deborah, you knew she loved to cook, especially Italian food, and that Christmas simply wouldn't have been complete without making cookies with her children and grandchildren. She was also the proud owner and operator of Sweet Occasions Baking, where she shared her love of baking with others. Deborah loved to sing, enjoyed music and art, and never missed an opportunity to indulge in her favorite reality television shows. She loved to travel, especially with her family, but there was no place quite like Oak Island. It was her happy place, where she could relax, enjoy the sunshine, and make memories with the people she loved most.

Above all, Deborah loved people. She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends and truly never met a stranger. She was down-to-earth, quick-witted, and had a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten any room. Her warmth, kindness, and compassion made everyone feel welcome and loved. She was more than a mother to her own children; she was like a second mother to so many of their friends. Her door was always open, there was always room for one more, and she loved those children as if they were her own. Deborah had a way of making people feel like family, and that was one of the many things that made her so special.

Deborah is survived by her loving husband, Sean Meiners Sr.; her children, Kelly (Zackary), Sean (Sarah), and Kerri (Spencer); and her eight beloved grandchildren, Kaylee, Helena, Madison, Thea, India, Paislee, Wade, and Joleigh. She is also survived by her stepmother, Mary Trueheart; brother, Michael Trueheart; sister, Linda Trueheart; father-in-law, Kenneth Meiners; brother-in-law, Larry Greene; sisters-in-law, Danielle, Sally, and Judy; brother-in-law, Darwin; and numerous special nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; her parents; her sister, Sandy; her mother-in-law, Marlin Meiners; her aunts, Mary and Lorraine; and her uncle, Frank.

A receiving of friends will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Deborah's life, share memories, and honor the beautiful person she was.

Deborah's passing leaves an immeasurable hole in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be remembered for her infectious humor, her generous spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and the light she brought into every room. She will be remembered in the laughter around the dinner table, the traditions carried on through generations, the Christmas cookies made with love, and even the YouTube videos she was always sharing.

Her legacy is not simply in the years she lived, but in the countless lives she touched and the love she gave so freely. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will carry her love with them always.

To know Deb was to love her, and she will be loved and missed forever.
