Delane Cozart McGee

Ruby Delane “Lanie” McGee, 76, of Connelly Springs, passed peacefully from this life and into Heaven on October 8, 2025.

Born in Caldwell County on June 17, 1949, Lanie was the daughter of Luther Steele Cozart and Beulah King Cozart. Lanie was a kind, loving, and caring lady, and she was proudest of being the mother of her sons, Derrin and Doug. She had a gentle soul and loved her Lord. Lanie looked forward to seeing her relatives in Heaven, but especially to meeting her Mom, who passed away when Lanie was twenty-six days old.

In addition to her parents, Lanie was preceded in death by her son, Derrin McGee, and her sister, Janet Cozart Bolick.

Lanie is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Dennis McGee of the home and a son, Doug McGee of Connelly Springs. Also surviving is a daughter-in-law, Kim McGee, wife of the late Derrin McGee of Gamewell; two sisters, Frances Cozart Harris, and Brenda Cozart Keller and husband Rodney; brother, Tom Cozart and wife Nita; and her nieces and nephews who loved her so much.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Nick Wilson officiating.

Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory in Valdese is assisting the family.
