Donald Ray McKinney

Donald Ray McKinney, 68, of Morganton, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025 following a period of declining health.

Donald was born on September 12, 1957 in Avery County, a son of the late Dewey and Faye Shook McKinney. He was a devoted volunteer for the Oak Hill Fire Department for over twenty years, and he also served with the Hazmat Team in Oak Hill. He worked for Ethan Allen, and as a truck driver for thirty years following their closure. He was a dependable family man who would describe himself as a “Good Ole Country Boy.” He loved nothing more than to listen to the radio and shoot the breeze with his buddies on the porch.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his older brother, Randy McKinney.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of forty-seven years, Tina Miller McKinney, and two children, Samantha McKinney and Caleb McKinney.

The family will hold a Receiving of Friends on Monday, December 8, 2025 from 5 PM to 6 PM at El Bethel Baptist Church in Morganton.
