Obituary

Mrs. Donna Kay Craig Hames, 65, of Connelly Springs, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at her residence and surrounded by her loving family, following a period of declining health.

Donna was born on January 13, 1961, in Caldwell County to the late Earl Craig and Evie Kincaid Craig. She was a member of Good News Ministries Church, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker to her entire family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hames, two brothers, Earl Allen Craig and Sanford Craig, two sisters, Kathy Lee Gilbert and Rachel Craig, and a nephew, Alvin “Punkin” Lorance Craig.

Donna is survived by her pride and joy, her twin daughters, Tonya Nations and husband Brian of Connelly Springs, and Shannon Spencer and husband Claude of Connelly Springs. Also surviving are her loving sisters, Becky, Pat and Darlene, her grandchildren; Kendall Robbins, Larry Clark and wife Kali, Brandon Clark and wife Abigail, Amber Spencer, Justin Pyatte and wife Emily, Brianna Nations and boyfriend Collin, Kaitlin Nations and boyfriend Trey, several great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 4:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with Rev. Ricky Cooke officiating.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Amorem Hospice for all their support during this time.
