Mrs. Dorthy Jean Garnes, 71, of Lenoir, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025, at her residence, following a period of declining health.
Jean was born on June 12, 1954, in Caldwell County to the late James William Garnes and Nettie Bell Haney Garnes. She was the longtime owner and operator of Genevieve’s Flowers in Rutherford College and Lenoir and was a faithful member of Clearview Baptist Church in Lenoir.
Surviving is her beloved husband, Robert “Bobby” Garnes of the home, and her two children, James Heath Garnes and wife Tiffany of Conover, and Tammi Cheryl Garnes of Lenoir. Also surviving is a sister, Joyce McGee, three grandchildren: Sevilla Mae Garnes, James Nahum Garnes and wife Sophia, and Katalena Callie Garnes, and one great-grandchild, James William Garnes.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 3:00 P.M at Clearview Baptist Church in Lenoir, with Pastors Geoff Day, Von Ramsey and Caleb Grindstaff officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, with Seth Gray, Joseph Gray, Jacob Coonse, Alex Austin, Chip McGee and Roger Haas serving as pallbearers, and Drew Gray, Dillon Dula, Nahum Garnes, Williams Garnes, Dana Haas, Tony Main, Noah McGee, Ronnie Garnes, Steve Garnes and Ronnie Shatley serving as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at Clearview Baptist Church in Lenoir.
