Edith Franklin Cooper, 83, of Valdese, passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 1, 2025, at College Pines Nursing Center following a period of declining health.
Edith was born on July 12, 1942, in Burke County, to the late Herman and Osera Murray Franklin. She was a registered nurse for many years serving her community in the healthcare field and was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church in Sawmills.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Steve Cooper, and her sister, Eva Gregory of Texas.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Tracy Chapman and husband Tracy of Morganton; her son, Richard Scott Cooper and wife Lisa of Granite Falls; her grandchildren, Halee Powell and husband Garet of Morganton, Logan Chapman and wife Caroline of Morganton, Hunter Cooper and Parker Cooper both of Granite Falls, Taylor Johnson and husband J.J. of Kentucky and Justin McCrary and wife Ashley of Hickory; also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Cooper Powell, Asher Chapman, Caden Johnson, Grace Johnson, Heidi McCrary and James McCrary.
A Graveside Service will be held at 12:30 P.M. Saturday October 4, 2025, at Burke Memorial Park, with Pastor Danny Wright officiating.
