Elgie Chapman Franklin

Elgie Mae Chapman Franklin, 80, of Connelly Springs, NC, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 2, 2025, after a period of declining health.

Mrs. Franklin was born on January 11, 1945, to the late David "Jink" and Hester Chapman. She was a faithful member of her church and retired from the John Louis Alba Waldensian Hosiery plant in Valdese.

Those left to cherish her memory are a son, Curtis Franklin, Jr., (Starr) of Valdese; daughter, Sandy Hoilman (Lee) of Valdese; a sister, Sally Walker of Lenoir; grandchildren, Christy Root (Jason), Lauren Johnson (David), Garrison Franklin (Emily), Tyler Killian, Kevin Hoilman, and Abby Franklin; and greatgrandchildren, Blake Young, Brooke Richards, Brittany Richards (Lane), Rhett Johnson, Levi Franklin, McKenna Young, River Jones, and Savannah Johnson.

In addition to her parents, Elgie is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Franklin, Sr.; a daughter, Gloria Killian; brother, Julius Chapman; and sisters, Minnie Thomlinson and Betty Goins.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 2 PM in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Warlick’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from 1 PM to 2 PM at Heritage Funeral Service.
