Elizabeth Hope Goode Butler

Elizabeth Hope Goode Butler, 85, of Morganton, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 11, 2026 at Amorem Hospice in Valdese following a brief illness.

Hope was born on July 7, 1940 in McDowell County to the late James Leonard Goode and Mildred Rice Goode. She was a dedicated cosmetic sales representative with Mary Kay Cosmetics for many years, and was a long-time member of United Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Billy Ervin Butler; one brother, James Robert Goode; and her sister, Patricia Pinkerton.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Deborah Butler Barker and husband Hank of Morganton and James Butler and wife Laura of Mooresville; her grandchildren, Jennifer Milton and husband Robby, Nicholas Barker and wife Rose, and Kaleb Butler; two great-grandchildren, Kayler Milton and Zecaryah Barker; also surviving are numerous special nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 12:30-2:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.

A Graveside Service will follow the visitation at 2:30 P.M. Thursday at Burke Memorial Park.
