Ethel Anne Powell

Ethel Anne Powell, 68, of Lenoir, passed away on Sunday January 19, 2026, at UNC Medical Cener, Chapel Hill, after a period of declining health.

Mrs. Powell was born in Valdese, a daughter of the late Lloyd Powell, Jr and Joan Brown Powell. Anne loved singing, playing, and writing music. She loved learning and attended UNC Chapel Hill, NC State, UNC Asheville and Appalahian State. She had many interests, such as gardening and a love of sports, especially basketball and was a diehard Tarheel basketball fan. Anne loved her cats and fostered many throughout her adult life.

Those left to cherish her memory are her three brothers, Jeffrey Powell, Douglas Powell (Alexandria) and Michael Powell (Janice), many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special appreciation to the staff at UNC Caldwell Medical Center and UNC Chapel Hill for the care given to Anne while she was a patient there.

A private Service of Remembrance will be held by the family, at a later date.
