Mr. Fred Alexander Simmons, 54, of Valdese, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at UNC-BR Morganton.

Alex was born on July 7, 1971 in Burke County to Rachel Lucinda Ingle Simmons and the late Jack Horace Simmons. He was previously employed as a cook with several local restaurants, including Fry Daddys, Granny’s Kitchen, and B&B Food Store.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are six children, Megan Franklin and husband Matt of Icard, Elizabeth Chaffin and husband C.W. of Morganton, Jacob Simmons and wife Siearra of Catawba, Rachel Fuller of Madisonville, TN, Carlee Singiser and husband Dakota of Madison, AL, and Angela Simmons of Old Fort. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Brittany Franklin, Johnathan Franklin, Rose Franklin, Lexi Wright, Levi Wright, Elijah Simmons, Raeanna Fuller, Olivia Fuller and Elise Fuller, one brother, Junior Simmons and wife Angela, a sister, Nancy Martin, his longtime girlfriend, Shannon Johnson of the home, and her children, David Potter, and Wryan Gilliand.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 4:00 P.M. at Berea Baptist Church with Rev. Devin Hildebran officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. at Berea Baptist Church in Connelly Springs.
