Gail Jeanette King Waycaster

Ms. Gail Jeanette King Waycaster, 74, of Morganton, passed away peacefully at her home at 300 Williams Rd. on January 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, after a period of declining health.

She was born in Buncombe County, NC, on August 31, 1951, a daughter of the late Jay and Harriet King.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her beloved siblings, Gene King, Yates King, and Peggy Honeycutt.

Surviving is her beloved sister, Cathy Rector; brother, Ray King (Diane); sister-in-law, Kathy King (Yates); adored daughters, Tina Waycaster Fredell and Tresa Waycaster Harrell (Brad); along with her grandchildren, Brian Black (Zack) and Erika Black Horney (Levi); and her greatgrandchildren, Nathan, Lincoln, and Emery; and many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

Gail worked many years at Drexel Furniture where she developed lifelong friendships. She attended Mulls Grove Baptist Church for many years, where she served God and others. She most recently attended Burkemont Baptist Church with her daughter Tina Fredell. She had a servant’s heart and was always caring for her neighbors, friends, and family. If you needed her, she was there. She is now receiving her reward in heaven.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 5 PM in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Brother Lou Lovelace and Pastor Eddy Bunton officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, January 6, 2023 from 4 PM to 5 PM at Heritage Funeral Service.
