Gale Rhoney Oaks

Gale Dean Rhoney Oaks, 75, of Valdese, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at UNC Blue Ridge following a brief illness.

Gale was born May 9, 1950 in Burke County, to the late Neal “June” Rhoney and Clara Gantt Rhoney. She was a retired registered nurse and was a member of Abees Grove Baptist Church. Gale loved different crafts, flowers, and studying her genealogy.

She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-five years, David “Wally” Oaks; daughters, Kelly Oaks, and Wendy Oaks Leonard; sisters, Sandra Lowman, and Joyce Warlick and husband Jack; brother, Michael Rhoney and wife Bea; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog Cricket.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Abees Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Rudy Hayes officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the church prior to the service.
