Glenn Wayne Zimmerman, 88, of Connelly Springs, passed away peacefully, Thursday August 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family by his side.
Glenn was born February 3, 1938, in Connelly Springs, a son of the late Dave and Susie Carswell Zimmerman.
He spent 42 years working at the SGL Carbon Plant, where he held multiple positions throughout his career. He took great pride in his work and truly loved his time at SGL Carbon and the many people he worked alongside throughout the years.
Glenn was a member of Mount Harmony Church in Icard, NC, where his faith and fellowship were an important part of his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Maude Berry, Mildred Lowman, Lucille Decker, Peggy Ennis and two brothers, Clarence (Bud) Zimmerman and Ray Zimmerman.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jo Anne Chapman Zimmerman and two sons, Glenn Wayne Zimmerman II and wife Molly, Jeffrey C. Zimmerman and wife Karen. Also surviving are the apples of his eyes, his four grandchildren, Glenn Wayne Zimmerman III and wife Kirsten, William Payne Zimmerman, Haley Brooke Zimmerman Jones and husband Trevor, two great-grandchildren Liam Zimmerman and Eli Zimmerman and number of nieces and nephews, who he was very close to.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday August 23, 2026, at Mount Harmony Church, Icard with Rev. Darren Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Mount Harmony Church.
