James Clyde Rose Jr., 74, of Hickory, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Autumn Care of Drexel following a period of declining health.

James was born July 31, 1951 in Virginia to the late James Clyde Rose Sr. and Ethel Wyatt Stubbiefield. He was a proud Vietnam veteran serving honorably in the United States Army. He was always there to help anyone that needed it and fixing things when others could not. James always loved a good day of fishing.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of fifty four years, Barbara Carter “Bobbie” Rose; children, Johnathan Rose, Julie A. Rose, Billy “Britt” Spurlock, Clifford “Creed” Spurlock, Arn Alan Spurlock; grandson, Dustin Scott Barnes; and brother, Mark Stewart Rose.

A gathering of friends to celebrate the life of James will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.

Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory in Valdese is assisting the family.
