Joan Olivia Yancey Buckner

Joan Olivia Yancey Buckner, 75, of Connelly Springs, passed away peacefully on Sunday July 20, 2025 at her residence following a period of declining health.

Joan was born on April 3, 1950 in Burke County to the late Roy Clayton Yancey and Virginia Madeline Brown Yancey. She was a homemaker, and also worked at the College Pharmacy in Rutherford College for many years. Joan was a longtime member of Crosslink Church in Rutherford College.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Lee Buckner; and her brother, Kenny Yancey.

Survivors include her children, Tina Buckner Walker and husband David of Conover; Robert Lee Buckner and wife Chasity of Icard; Amy Buckner Johnson and husband Johnny of Granite Falls; Andrew Roy Buckner and wife Alyssa of Connelly Springs; and Megan Setzer and husband Bradley of Wilmington; her grandchildren, Ashlynn Noel Walker, Madelyn Johnson Love, Hayley Johnson Hammons, Abby Buckner, Evan Buckner, Joanna Buckner, and Elyas Buckner; great-grandchildren, Tatum Love and James Hammons; two brothers, Mike Yancey and Van Yancey; also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends Saturday July 26, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at Crosslink Church.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday July 26, 2025 at Crosslink Church, with Rev. Mark Smith and Rev. Jonathan Reece officiating.
