JoAnne Norville Cook, 77, of Connelly Springs, joined her Savior and friends on Saturday June 27, 2026, at UNC Health Care, Morganton, after a period of declining health.
Mrs. Cook was born December 14, 1948, in Gilkey, Rutherford County, one of eighteen children of Thomas Crawford and Robert Mae Laughter Norville. JoAnne was an active member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church, the Senior Women’s Sunday School Class, the WMU and numerous other committees within the church. She loved to travel, although she was a wonderful cook, she still loved to eat out when she got a chance. JoAnne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a special friend to many.
She spent 29 years as a CNA with Handi-Care, where she developed a loving relationship with the many patients she had the privilege to help care for.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years, Howard John Cook of the home, three sons, Pastor Randy John Cook (Jeanna), Eddie Howard Cook (Becky) and Melvin Joe Freeman (Barbara) all of Connelly Springs. Also surviving are the apples of her eye, her grandchildren, Pastor Austin Cline (Lauren), Anna Cassidy Patton (David), Kaylee Ann Cook, Maggie Faith Cook (Ben), Bonnie Renee Cook, Molly Grace Freeman, and Callie Jane Freeman. In addition, surviving are special friends, Leigh Lane; special niece, Vergie Tallent, who was like a sister; and her canine companions, Bo and Ferb.
Funeral Services for JoAnne Norville Cook will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday July 1, 2026, at Mount Gilead Baptist Church, with Pastor Randy Cook and Pastor Austin Cline officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 Until 3:00 P.M. at Mount Gilead Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to Mount Gilead Baptist Church, 4264 Mount Gilead Church Rd., Connelly Springs, NC 28612.
