John Clarke Baker, 58, of Valdese, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 12, 2026 following a period of declining health.

John was born May 1, 1968 in Burke County, a son of John and Judy Clarke Baker. He loved animals and had a special bond with his dog Arlene. He had a talent for art and had a passion for drawing. In his downtime, he often enjoyed mobile gaming.

He is preceded in passing by his beloved wife, Christina Marie Baker.

Those left to cherish his memory include his parents; his son, Mason Gray; father- and mother-in-law, David and Lizbeth Rollyson; uncles, Morris Baker and Donald Clarke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at 3:00 PM in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Valdese with Rev. Dr. Josh Lail officiating. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary following the service.
