John Lee Munday, 59, of Hildebran, passed away on Friday March 6, 2026, at his residence, after a period of declining health.

John was born March 4, 1967, in Burke County, a son of the late Cecil J. “Bud” and Rachel Burris Munday. He was formally employed as a machinist in the tool and dye industry. John was a lifelong member of Rhodhiss First Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, riding horses or just spending time in God’s Creation.

Those left to cherish his memory are a daughter, Ashlyn Taylor and husband Kiefer of Lenoir, sister, Susan Greer (Kent) of Lenoir and a brother, Gary Munday (Tiffany) of Oak Island. Also surviving are the apple of his eye, his grandchildren, Atlas Taylor and Aurora Taylor, his nephews, Kyle Greer (Kary), Hunter Greer (Gracie), niece, Karahgan Munday, and great-niece, Karter Greer.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday March 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the Rhodhiss First Baptist Church, with Rev. Rick Miller officiating.

Memorials may be made to the family at 580 Pleasant Hill Rd., Lenoir, NC 28645 to help with the grandchildren’s college account.
