Mr. John Franklin Snider, 85, of Morganton, went home to be with his Lord, on July 20, 2026, at Amorem Hospice of Valdese, following an extended illness.
John was born on October 10, 1940, in Guilford County to the late Rev. Pearlie Snider and Rev. Mabel Jenkins Snider. He married the love of his life, Brenda Angley Snider on their birthdays, on October 10, 1962. John worked several different jobs after, until he went to work with Burke County EMS, where he found his place. He worked there for 15 years, until he was medically discharged and afterwards, went to work in the HVAC industry. John enjoyed boating, water skiing, scuba diving, fishing, horseback riding, and canoeing with his wife Brenda, and spending time with his family. He was a lifetime member of the Burke County Rescue Squad, where he was a rescue diver, and a volunteer member of the West End Fire Department in his younger years. He was a funny, sweet, kind and loving man with his family, friends and coworkers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Snider Ball and a brother, Paul Snider.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving spouse of 63 years, Brenda Angley Snider, two sons, Greg Snider and wife Kimberly, and Jeff Snider. Also surviving is a sister, Dawn Snider McLachlan and husband Walter, sister in-law, Susan Snider, brother in-laws, Curtis Angley (Belinda) and Johnny Angley (Debbie), sister in-law, Freida Angley, granddaughters; Mackenzie Snider, Bailey Snider, Hailey Galarza, and Sydney Snider, and his four-legged boys, Rusty and Charlie.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 12:00 P.M. at Snow Hill Methodist Church, with Pastor April Abernethy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at Snow Hill Methodist Church.
