Jonathan (Jon, aka JonBoi) Christopher McRary, 36 of Nashville, TN died August 17, 2025, in a freak accident doing what he loved best, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle on. He was greeted in heaven by his loving Grandparents, John, Jr. and Isabelle Barus, Aunt Jennifer Barus Brittain, Great Grandparents, John Sr. and Henrietta Jacumin Barus, Horace and Tempie Deal, Ross and Paralee McRary and Bud and Margaret Beane, Nanny Helen Roylean McRary, MawMaw Ruth Young McRary and Bros Coty Adams, Timothy and Brian Williams. What a great reunion that must have been.
Those he left behind to cherish his memories are his Mother Jeanine Barus, Father and Stepmother Barry C. and Marla McRary, sister, Kristen McRary and Fiancé Johnny Hines nephews Nathaniel (Nate) Adams and Kevin Hines, PawPaw Billy Jack McRary; extended family Shelbe and Ryan Williams and girlfriend Molly Nickins. There are so many additional family and friends that called Jon, son, brother, cousin, and friend both in North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida and beyond. Just know that Jon considered them family and he cared deeply about each and everyone.
Motorcycles and mechanics (wrenching) were a big part of Jon’s life. Riding his motorcycle gave Jon freedom and relaxation, no matter what the length of the ride was. The longer the ride the better. He bought his first Harley Davidson in 2017 and has owned one ever since.
He went to Paris, TN as a young 19-year-old to learn how to work on motorcycles, since racing and riding KTM’s 250-450 were his passion. Dirt bike racing at Loretta Lynn’s Hurricane Mills Race was a bucket list goal that he achieved. From dirt bikes, he graduated to street bikes, specifically his Honda CBR 600 with five-star design while participating in passion of drag racing, wheelies and street riding. After graduating from Nashville Auto Disel College with an associate degree in heavy equipment technology and management, he worked as a diesel and small engine mechanic for Sneed Builders, LLC.
