Joyce Cheryl Cordell

Mrs. Joyce Cheryl Cordell, 69, of Madison Heights, Va., passed away on Monday September 8, 2025, at UNC Health Care Blue Ridge, Morganton, after a brief illness.

Mrs. Cordell was born November 14, 1955 in Burke County, a daughter of the late Eugene Edwards and Ruth Brantley. Joyce was retired as a registered nurse after many years of service, both in a hospital and nursing facility.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Cordell.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Nicholas Cordell and wife Alexis of Chesterfield Va., two daughters, Mandy Bell and husband Eric of Madison Heights, VA, and Carmen Smith and husband Todd of Morganton, NC, two sisters, Ella Ruth Williams, Jeanette Hill and a brother, Chris Edwards. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jessica Bell, Gabe Bell, Noah Bell, Maddox Cordell, Mason Otto, Collin Smith and Trenton Smith.

A Service of Remembrance for Joyce Cheryl Cordell will be held Wednesday at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday September 10, 2025 in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese with Rev. Thurston Greene, Sr. officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.
