Judith Patricia Ayers Hudson, 83, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Monday June 9, 2025 at College Pines Health and Rehabilitation following a period of declining health.
Judith was born May 22, 1942 in Burke County to the late Paul Andrew Ayers and Ruth Alexander Ayers. She was a member of Abernethy United Methodist Church and worked as a farmer; being known as resourceful and able to make wine out of anything. Judith was a very bright woman and could be found conquering word search puzzles and enjoying hand written letters. She loved to read and loved her book club. She was a very loving woman, very joyful and content with what she had, and very generous with her time to charities.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Henry Hudson; and brother-in-law, Micol Garrison.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Henry Hudson II and wife Sherry; and John Geoffrey Hudson and wife Kim; daughter, Martha Evelyn Hudson; grandchildren, Tyler “Ty” Shields and wife Maggie, Alexandra DeRoth and husband Sean, Richard Henry “Trey” Hudson III and wife Lauren, Daniel Hudson, and Sarah Hudson; and great-grandchildren, Ezra Shields, Eliza Shields, Addison DeRoth, and Maverick DeRoth. Also surviving are her brothers, Paul Andrew Ayers and wife Mary, and David Alexander Ayers and wife Gail; sister, Martha June Garrison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Wilkies Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Kaury C. Edwards officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Abernethy United Methodist Church at 960 Malcolm Blvd. Connelly Springs, NC 28612 .
