Kevin Ray Stamey, 58, of Morganton, passed away on Friday October 16, 2026, at Grace Heights Nursing Center after a brief illness.

Mr. Stamey was born on March 30, 1968, in Burke County, the son of the late Jimmy Ray and Edna Lail Stamey. He was employed as an auto parts salesman and a long-haul truck driver, a job he truly enjoyed. Kevin also very much enjoyed his time fishing, hunting or anytime outdoors with his canine companions.

In addition to his parents, he as preceded in death by his siblings, brother, Barry Joe “Bim” Lail, sister, Jamillia Lail Branch, paternal grandparents, Fred Gilbert Stamey and Bulah Lowman Stamey Setzer and maternal grandparents, Joseph Vance and Katie Elvira Gilliland Lail.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kimberly Baker Stamey of the home, a brother, Brian Stamey and wife Tamara of Morganton. Also surviving is his nephew, Barry Branch and niece, Kelly Bastings.

A Gathering of friends will be held Thursday October 22, 2026, at 4:00 P.M. with a Celebration of life to follow at 6:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.
