Larry Dean McLean

Larry Dean McLean, 76, of Valdese, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Autumn Care of Drexel following a period of declining health.

Larry was born August 5, 1949 in Burke County, a son of the late Troy Virgil McLean, Sr., and Jenelle Buff McLean. He was a simple man who enjoyed the quieter things in life. His daily pastime was to watch his favorite TV show, M*A*S*H.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by one brother, David McLean.

Those left to cherish his memory include his two daughters, Kelly Smith (Nathan) of Morganton and Karry McLean (James) of New Mexico; three brothers, Neil McLean of Valdese, Troy Virgil McLean, Jr., of Drexel, and John McLean (Elizabeth) of Granite Falls; four sisters, Berta McLean of Valdese, Lois McLean of Valdese, Joyce McLean of Valdese, and Julie McLean of Valdese, four grandchildren, Jonathon Smith, Ellis Smith, Maxwell Clowater, and Sophia Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory is assisting the family.
