Lavada Aiken Johnson

Mrs. Lavada Aiken Johnson, 90, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Amorem Hospice of Valdese, following a period of declining health.

Lavada was born on October 28, 1934, in Burke County to the late Walter Aiken and Ruth Powell Aiken. She was retired from the furniture and hosiery industries and was a longtime member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Lavada loved music and playing her piano

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Johnson, granddaughter, Angie Lassiter, great-grandson, James Daniel Johnson, and great great-granddaughter, Jayden Olivia Johnson.

Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Price, son, Rickie Johnson and wife Tonie, and son Billy Abernethy and wife Barbara. Also surviving is a sister, Shirley Winn, grandchildren: Cathy Icard and husband Billy, Kelly Crowe, Lisa Vines, Amanda Johnson, Krystal Smith, Chad Johnson, Dylan Newton and wife Mylyia, and Cecilia Burns and wife Sarah, Cody Hogan, and her great-grandchildren: David Moore and wife Tyler, Jacob Smith, Lexi Smith, Sara Lassiter, Kaleb Crowe, Korey Crowe, Kasey Crowe, Levi Icard, Desiree Icard and great great-grandchildren, Harlen Moore, James Moore and Emersyn Icard.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with Rev. Deval Mason officiating. Interment will follow at Shady Grove UMC Cemetery in Connelly Springs, with DJ Moore, Robert Hudson, Billy Icard, Chad Johnson, Dylan Newton and Dennis Newton serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
