Lawrence Randolph Graves

Lawrence Randolph “Randy” Graves, 76, of Morganton, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Carolina Rehab following a period of declining health.

Randy was born April 10, 1949 in Cherokee County, a son of the late John Lawson and Nora McTaggart Graves. He and his wife spent many days together watching the adventures of Andy Griffith and the citizens of Mayberry. He also loved to watch Nascar and was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan. Naturally, he was also fond of GM and Chevy vehicles. He loved to bowl any chance he could and was a fan of the Atlanta Braves. He was an advocate and strong supporter of March of Dimes. More than anything, he loved his grandchildren. They were the apples of his eye.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded by six siblings, Brodus Graves, Edith Willa Mae Graves, Fannie Kate Graves, Bill Graves, Sheridan Graves, and Tommy Lawson “Hoyte” Graves; a daughter-in-law, Tracy Graves; and a son-in-law, Shannon Fox.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of fifty-six years, Victoria Graves; children, Lawrence Matthew Graves (Melissa), Penni Nikki Klotzle (Mark), Jaime Aaron Graves, and Jessica Mandy Fox; three siblings, J. D. Graves, Mary Jo Graves, and Mary Lee Graves; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at South Mountain Baptist Church on US Hwy 64 in Morganton at 5 PM with Rev. Paul Balch officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 from 4 PM to 5 PM at South Mountain Baptist Church.
