Leon L. Ledford, 89, of Icard, went to his Heavenly Home on Saturday March 7, 2026, at his home with his loving family by his side.

Mr. Ledford was born January 15, 1937, in Gaston County, a son of the late Rev. A.V. and Ida Sue Faulkner Ledford. Leon was a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church Hildebran, serving as a Deacon, former Sunday School teacher and as a member of numerous committees. He retired as a superintendent in the furniture manufacturing industry where he made numerous friends and acquaintances.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James Ledford, Leonard Ledford, Bill Ledford and sister, Naomi Daughtery.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 70 years, Shirley Franklin Ledford of the home, daughters, Cheryl Huffman and Karen Cline (Scott) both of Icard, and a son Mickey Ledford (Ann) of Fuquay Varina, brothers Doug Ledford (Jan), of Maiden, Richard Ledford (Jenny) of Warne, NC and Cecil Ledford (Donna) of Kannapolis. Also surviving are the apples of his eye, his six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Leon L. Ledford will be held 3:00 P.M. Wednesday March 11, 2026, at First Baptist Church Hildebran with Rev. Ron Arndt and Rev. Dr. Cory Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at First Baptist Church Hildebran.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
