Linda Ann Duckworth

Linda Ann “Sophie” Duckworth, 83, of Morganton, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at UNC Blue Ridge Health following a period of declining health.

Sophie was born July 3, 1942 in Burke County to the late Winfred Duckworth and Myrtle Brittain Duckworth. She worked at Knob Creek/Ethan Allan for many years and later retired from J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, collecting cookbooks, and baking for the community and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Danny Duckworth.

She is survived by her sister, Patricia Duckworth Dale (L.P.), whom she had a very special and loving bond; niece, Tami Dale Hart (Kevin), and nephews, Jason Dale (Lisa), Scooby Duckworth (Janie), Shawn Duckworth (Tira). Also surviving are her great nieces and nephews, Peyton, Garrett (Kelly), Dillon (Kera), Clint (Jade), Shawna (Josh), Joshua, Jennifer (Michael), Joseph, Jillian; numerous great great nieces and nephews; special friends, Carolyn McFalls and Alma Davis; and special cousin Shirley Swink.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Linda Mosteller for her dedication and friendship over the last many years.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date by the family.

Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory in Valdese is assisting the family.
