Mr. Lloyd Franklin Townsend, 82, of Winston Salem, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at his family’s residence in Hickory, following a period of declining health.

Lloyd Was born on January 16, 1944, in Catawba County to Sadie Ruth Herman Townsend and the late Frank Townsend. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Conover and was a retired paint contractor. Lloyd also enjoyed watching NASCAR and restoring old furniture in his spare time.

Surviving in addition to his mother, is his beloved wife of 64 years, Sylvia Evelyn Tucker Townsend of the home, a daughter, Kimberly Ann Fortner of Conover and one son, Timothy Michael Townsend and wife Angela of Hickory. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Hayden Chancellor Fortner, Trevor Michael Townsend, Tyler Steven Townsend and wife Kayli, Austin Townsend and wife Bethany, and Cameron Townsend and wife Allie, three great-grandchildren; Annabelle Townsend, Addie Jane Townsend and Tucker Beau Townsend, two sisters, Carolyn Yancey and Shelia Lineberger, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 2:00 P.M., in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Rev. Arthur Mason and Rev. Lee McNeil officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
