Lori Jean Buff

Lori Jean Buff, 55, of Valdese, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at her residence after a brief illness.

Lori was born January 13, 1970, in Houston County, GA, a daughter of Gwendolyn Garrou Thompson and the late Peter Marcus Buff, Jr. She was a member of the Rocky Gap, Va. United Methodist Church. After graduating from High School, Lori finished Cosmetology School and was employed as a hairdresser.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her step-father, John Edwin Thompson.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Mason Dale Christian of the home, her mother, Gwendolyn Thompson of Valdese, a step-son, Brandon Christian of Wilmington, a sister, Priscilla Ashburn of Morganton, and a brother Mark Buff and wife Christine of Raleigh. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced.

Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital or Burke County Friends for Animals.
