Lucille Deal Holden

Lucille Deal Holden, 92, of Morganton, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 8, 2026 at UNC Health Blue Ridge, following a period of declining health.

Lucille was born on March 6, 1933 in Burke County, to the late Lawrence Nelson Deal and Myrtle Dallas Settlemyre Deal. Lucille dedicated many years to her work, first as an inspector with Alba-Waldensian, then showcasing her creative talents as a hairdresser, and for the past 25 years she delighted customers with her beautiful cake decorations at Lowe’s Foods. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Valdese, and her faith was an important part of her life.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Janie Causby of Morganton and Jeremy Holden and wife Melissa of Morganton; her former husband, Gary Holden of Newland; her grandchildren, Mark West, Jennifer West, Kyra Holden and Zoe Holden; her great-grandchildren, Eric West, Bradly West, Skyla Cole and Caleigh West; her great-great grandchildren, Caden West and Heaven West; one sister, Carolyn Deal; and nieces, Ashley Castle and Teresa Sanders Witkowski; and her nephew, Mark Miller

A Celebration of Life for Lucille Holden will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday January 25, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Valdese with Rev. Dr. Josh Lail officiating.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00-3:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Valdese.
