Mrs. Margaret Anne Hendley Stamey, 80, of Morganton, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at her residence, following a period of declining health.
Margaret was born on May 15, 1945 in McDowell County to the late Roy Hendley and Margaret Oliver Hendley. She was a retired accountant, working for Doblin Fabrics of Morganton, for many years.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Thomas Stamey of the home, and her four children, Chris Brooks and wife Kim, Chad Brooks, Tony Stamey and wife Melissa, and Tammy Stamey. Also surviving is a brother, Roy Hendley, a sister, Sandra Broyhill, and her grandchildren; Lauren Luckadoo and husband Shane, Heather Brooks, Dustin Brooks, Amanda “Rain” Brooks, Ryan Stamey and wife Lindsey, Kaleb Stamey and wife Elizabeth, Cody Plaster, and Timmy Neece, 15 great-grandchildren: Kaleigh Beach, Sophia Luckadoo, Addison Luckadoo, Kaden Luckadoo, Amelia Lockard, Teaghan Stamey, Braxton Stamey, Laikyn Stamey, Easton Stamey, Sophia Davis, Lilly Davis, Stone Plaster, Dayton Plaster, and Yeva Francis.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with Chaplain Ric Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Morganton.
The family will receive friends on Friday, from 12:00 till 1:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
