Martha Stamey Jones, 86, of Icard, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Aston Park following a brief illness.

Martha was born June 24, 1939 in Burke County to the late Martin and Cordia Stamey. She retired from Icard Elementary School, where she worked as a kindergarten teacher’s assistant for more than twenty years. Martha enjoyed her time at Lake James Family Campground and going out to eat with her friends. In her younger years, Martha was an active member of First Baptist Church Icard; even playing on their softball team.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Eric Jones and wife Sheila, and Cameron Jones.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at 5:00 PM in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Pastor Chris Uren officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Service.

The family would like to give a special thank you for Aston Park for the excellent care that Martha received while she was there.
