Listen to Obituary

Mrs. Mattie Lene “Pat” Heavner, 88, of Valdese, passed away at her residence on Sunday June 15, 2025, after a period of declining health.

Mrs. Heavner was born October 20, 1936, in Cleveland County, a daughter of the late Lester and Annie Queen Pruett. Pat was a member of East Valdese Baptist Church and retired from the Valdese Doctors Clinic as a Medical Secretary.

Pat was a devoted wife who loved her family dearly. She always put other’s concerns before her own, making her positive outlook on life and happy personality contagious to all she met. She loved sewing, bluegrass music, traveling in their RV, baking, and her gorgeous African Violets.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 67 years, Homer Heavner; her children Rickey Poston and wife Pamela, Lisa Herman and husband Nathan, Celia Collins and husband David; her siblings Carl Pruett, Betty Braswell, and Mark Pruett. Also, the apples of her eye, her grandchildren Grandon Abee, Leanne Grady, Adam Robinson, and Brad Grady; and her darling great-grandchild Mason Grady. They have vowed to continue her legacy of love.

A Service of Celebration will be held on Wednesday June 18, 2025 at 5:00 PM, in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Rev. Lloyd Hunt officiation.
