Melba Lynn Schronce Icard, 79, of Hickory, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Frye Regional Medical Center.

Melba was born August 31, 1946 in Catawba County to the late, Richard Paul Schronce and Minnie Catherine Sharpe Schronce. She worked for MDI for more than 29 years and was the owner of M&S Mobile Fleet Service. Melba loved all animals – but her cats were her favorites.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Richard Paul Schronce Jr.; sister-in-law, Frankie Schronce; niece, Janet Murphy; and nephew, Scott “Scottie” Schronce.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, John Icard; son, Kenneth Lee Icard; daughter, Kellie Lynn Icard and partner, Garrett Voiers; brother, Jerry Ernest Schronce and wife Toni; nephews, Daniel Schronce, and Dennis Murphy; and nieces, Karen Schronce, and Kim Corriher and husband Robert. Also surviving is a special aunt, Gwyn Keever; two aunts; one uncle and numerous loving cousins. 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
